Kalia Yojana

The Kalia Yojana is a game-changer for Indian farmers. It was started in 2019 by the Odisha government with the main objective of agricultural productivity and reducing poverty. It has helped over 12 lakh farmer families in Odisha so far and is expected to benefit more than 50 lakh farmer families in the next 5 years. Let's take a closer look at how this scheme works and what benefits it offers to farmers.

How does the Kalia Yojana work?

The scheme provides financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per farm family towards investment in land development, irrigation, seedlings, equipment, etc. It also covers input subsidies for crops, livestock insurance, and the setting up of micro-enterprises related to agriculture. In addition, it provides financial support for skills development and livelihoods promotion.

What are the benefits of the Kalia Yojana?

The Kalia Yojana offers a number of benefits to farmers, such as increased agricultural productivity, reduce poverty, improved livelihoods, and greater financial inclusion. It also helps in creating employment opportunities and generating income for farm families. In addition, the scheme promotes sustainable agriculture practices and encourages the use of climate-friendly technologies.

Will the Kalia Yojana be successful?

The success of the scheme depends on its implementation. The Odisha government has set up a dedicated implementing agency - The Krishak Bandhu Society - to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme. So far, the results have been encouraging with over 12 lakh farmer families benefiting from the scheme so far. It is expected that more than 50 lakh farmer families will benefit from the scheme in the next 5 years.
